Junior Entrepreneur Programme Showcase Day at the Malton Hotel
5th class students enjoyed a spectacular day at the JEP Showcase Day at the Malton Hotel in Killarney. The showcase day was opened by world famous dancer Michael Flatley and also Jerry Kennelly founder and CAO of Tweak.com.
The children from Fossa NS displayed their product “Glitter Globes” and they also had the opportunity to see other products created by other young entrepreneurs. Some of the other products we saw were magnets, keyrings, tooth fairy pillows, soap, fresh juice, lucky horse shoes, cook books, calendars etc. The 5th class children received the JEP 2016 flag and plaque for their school Fossa NS and it will fly high above our school next week. The children enjoyed lunch and also a disco as part of the day. It was great fun!
The children set up their very own business by producing the product Glitter Globes mainly for the Christmas Market. The children had to research findings, present their ideas to the dragons as part of dragons den, they got advice from a local business visitor, they raised finance by having a cake sale, they bought and sourced raw materials and finally they made the product.
The children made a grand total of 1005 euro in profit. They donated 300 euro to The Kerry Hospice Foundation. The rest of the money will go towards their school tour on the 3rd June.
Watch out for these budding entrepreneurs in the future. Well done rang a cúig. (please go to the 5th class gallery to see a powerpoint explaining about our product)
