The journey had to come to an end sometime…
Our boys return home after putting in a monumental effort today in the Volleyball Ireland National Finals. They represented themselves, their family, school and community with pride, determination, skill and respect.
It was clear from game one the standard was extremely high and everything was going to be hard fought and hard won. We realized quickly what an achievement it was even qualifying for the national finals. Competing against and holding our own against the best in the country is something to be very proud of.
While one of our teams didn’t progress from their group, an extremely tough group, there was only a single point defeat in 3 of their games and one fantastic win. Our other team had more success, progressing from their group and reaching the knock out stages. Again, a heartbreaking single point defeat after serving for the match crushed the dream of more success
After gathering themselves and taking a bit of time they realized the fantastic achievement in reaching a quarter final. They are now one of the best 8 volleyball teams in the country.
