Grandparents’ Day 2025
First and Second class children were delighted to invite their Grandparents for a special celebration in Fossa NS last week. After interviewing our Grandparents in the lead up, we enjoyed hearing stories of long ago when they were young. We prayed for our Grandparents in heaven and Fr Niall lit a special candle beside our remembrance prayers on the day. We gave a great rendition of a Beatles song and a poem for all to enjoy but the highlight was over 60 children playing tin-whistle as a special treat for our Grandparents. We spent weeks making special art gifts and enjoyed a game of bingo, before we had cups of teas and treats provided by our wonderful Parents’ Association.
A truly memorable day.
The drizzle couldn’t dampen our excitement on our day out to town
We first enjoyed hot chocolates and our snacks at Lir Café. We were then greeted by Santa and welcomed into the Deenagh Lodge where the children heard all about his new letter machine, saw Mrs. Claus’ sitting room and Santa’s office. He read a story and had a chat with the children before declaring them all to be on the nice list!!
We also went on the river walk loop and were lucky enough to see 4 of Santa’s reindeer racing in the field and practicing their jump start!
A lovely day out was had by all.
