2nd class help Fossa Climate Action Group Get Planting to Improve Biodiversity
2nd class were delighted to help plant some 200 daffodil bulbs as part of the planting plan for Prince of Peace Church in Fossa. The plan is to return 30 per cent of the grounds of our Church to nature by 2030.
The children got great guidance from Angela, Mary, Anthony, Jimmy, Diarmaid and Teresa. We can’t wait to see our daffodils in full bloom in Spring on our trips to the church for our communion practise.
The Action Group’s plan is to plant 320 crocus, 200 snowdrop, 60 native bluebell bulbs along with our 200 daffodils. The group decided that they would begin by planting flowers that would be an early source of nectar and pollen to bees and butterflies.
We would like to thank Mary Fitzgerald from the Action Group for inviting 2nd class to be part of such a beneficial and beautiful project fostering links with our Parish and helping our environment. Thanks to all our helpers on the day and Fr Geaney with Fossa Pastoral Council for purchasing the bulbs.
We are counting down to Spring!

Maths Stations:
We like to try out the maths strategies we have learnt in small groups. Playing maths games is so much fun and helps our learning.
Tin-whistle:
we have started back playing our tin-whistle. We enjoyed exchanging tunes from last year and playing together. We are sounding great!
Swimming:
We had great fun every Friday for the last 6 weeks going to swimming lessons at the Aura.
Visit from Killarney Fire Brigade:
We were so lucky to get a visit from Pat and John from Killarney Fire Station. They were so generous with their time and not only gave us a fire safety talk but we got to sit in the fire engine and use the hose. A big thank you to John Cronin’s dad, Noel and Paudie Mangan for organising such an amazing experience. We are still talking about it!
